Why a blindly ambitious person ignores society's laws and values to
fulfill an ambition. Why does this person believe he/she is above all laws? Why
does this person appear to lack remorse?

Not with you” (Ch. 8, p. 98). 2-What is Simon’s “ancient, inescapable recognition” upon speaking to the lord of the flies (Ch. 8, p. 111)? 3-Why do the boys attack Simon? What does his death indicate about how the boys have changed?
A blindly ambitious person could have several reasons for an unethical ambition. Some reasons can include: selfishness, peer pressure/influence, vengeance, or for someone/a group of individuals. They could think they are above all laws because of the benefit of the ambition. For example in Macbeth, his ambition to become the king is a position that will not just make him above all laws, he will become the law maker. In addition, overconfidence can be a side effect of the ambition succeeding. This can make the blindly ambitious person think that laws cannot affect him/her as long as their plan follows through with no trouble. Blindly ambitious people may not have/lack remorse due to external influences, referencing back to reasons of doing it for others. The lack of remorse appears to be typical human behavior, which is doing things to make your friends/loved ones impressed/happy, even if the actions they request can be over the top. This means that as long as what you are doing is making the people you love/care about happy, you will not care about the bloodshed. There will be no remorse or mercy because the person that is a victim of your ambition is irrelevant from your perspective.
ReplyDeleteSometimes an ambitious person thinks that his/her goals is what matters the most and it doesn't matter how he/she reaches it. That can lead to things like disobeying the rules, showing no mercy, betraying people etc. Macbeth in this case. He wanted to become the king. It didn't matter to him how. The out come was the only thing that was important to him.
ReplyDeleteAmbition is a good thing to achieve goals but the result of blind ambitious behavior is a downfall. But in Shakespeare’s plays, ambition is not a good thing. A blind ambitious person is selfish and he wants to get anything he wants. So he may think he can do anything because he wants to fulfill his goals. He will also think he is above all laws.
ReplyDeleteIn the play, Macbeth is a selfish and blind ambitious soldier which makes wrong choices to get what he wants. When he gets the idea that he can become king he believes that all he needs to do is to kill his king which he was loyal to.
An ambitious person is a person always striving to reach his or her goal. The reason as to why an ambitious person ignores society’s laws and values is because he or she is always striving to reach his or her goals ,so there is absolutely nothing that can stop them from achieving what they are aiming for not even laws because by being too ambitious they think they’re above the laws like Macbeth, because he wanted more success, he had to kill Duncan so that he can finally fulfill what he and his wife wanted. He didn’t care about what the circumstances were because all he cared about was being king.
